Message Notes
Fullness of Grace
Forgiveness
Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
Romans 3:24 Romans 3:24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Transition: Hebrews 4:16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
You Receive Mercy, You Find Grace
Grace is not just given it is pursued. It is sought after.
You need mercy and Forgiveness for yesterday, You Need Grace and power for Tomorrow
Favor
Some define Grace as God’s Unmerited Favor. Or Good will.
Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
2 Corinthians 6:2 For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.(Isaiah 49:8)
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Grow in Favor
Luke 2:52 and Jesus grew is wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
Transition: So if we can grow in Favor then we can grow in Grace Grace can therefore be strengthened within us.
Justification happens in a moment, Purification is a Process, Sanctification is a Journey to the heart of God.
Force
Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
In the Book of Discipline John Wesley Defines Grace this way: "the undeserved, unmerited, and loving action of God in human existence through the ever-present Holy Spirit."
Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
Ephesians 5:18 Do Not be drunk with on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit.
John 14:2 Very Truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things because I am going to the Father.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. (Pneuma)
Of the Fullness of His Grace we have all received one blessing after another.
Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
John 20:22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
Conclusion
2 Corinthians 6:2 As God’s co-worker I urge you not to receive God’s Grace in vain!
Don’t’ Waste God’s Grace
