The Fulfilment Blockers
The Foundational Disciplines of the Christian Faith are well known. Read Your Bible, Pray, Go to Church, Give and Serve. But if we really want to experience the Abundant Life that Jesus Promises, we need to add to that, and build upon it. This week’s message talks about the 4 key actions if left undone will block you from experiencing life to the fullest. They are Petitioning God, Pondering His Word, Putting His commands into Practice and Exercising Patience and waiting on His timing.
Message Notes
Petition
James 4:2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet, but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
Mathew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Ponder (the multi-faceted Word of God)
Psalm 1:2-3 (Blessed is the one) whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law both day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.
Practice
Luke 6:46-49 (Jesus said) “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed, and its destruction was complete.”
Patience
Lamentations 3:26 It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
