When you are asked to do something, or asked to help or given an opportunity.  Learn to say these words,  Let me think about that or let mee pray about that.

Give yourself 24 hours.

Proverbs 17:28 Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.

Speak Fewer words and make Wiser statements.

Some call it the Powerr of the pause.  Give yourself time to think.  

I have gotten myself into a lot of ttouble saying yes to oquickly. 

2. Don’t give in to guilt.

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Candor is kind

Don’t be nice, be kind.  

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.  

Admit that you don’t have the skills for the task.

Admit that you don’t have the time for the task

Admit that you don’t have the passion for the task

Admit that accepting the task or the opportunity would hinder your focus in your existing commitments.  

Never be lacking in zeal 

Romans 12:11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

3 Set Standards by eliminating Insignificance

Proverbs 22:29 Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure people.

Every yes to one thing is a NO to something else.
