The Hustle Lie
Priming the Pump
James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
The Poison (Creates the Problem)
The Lie: You have to Hustle in order to succeed in life and business
The Truth: Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
Again, the Lie, You have to hustle to Succeed, the Truth Haste leads to Poverty.
The Problem (Produces the Symptoms)
We are too rushed, too Busy in too much of a hurry.
How are you …Busy?
Why do we work so Hard?
It is a double-edged sword. We want More and we worry about not having enough.
Luke 12:15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
We worry about having enough.
The Symptoms (Reveal the Need For a Cure)
1. Overworked and overwhelmed
Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
2. You treat Your Neighbor as you treat yourself.
Mark 12:31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
3. You never get ahead because you spend all that you make.
Haggia1:5 -6 Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. 6 You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”
The Cure (Only Works if we have a paradigm Shift)
1. Don’t Grow weary.Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
2. Prioritize
Mathew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
3. Work Diligently but at a pace that is viable and sustainable.
Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
4. Work as unto the Lord
Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
We say even of working for the Lord I would rather burn out than rust out. Neither of which are God’s calling on our lives.
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.
Mathew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
