Garbage In Garbage Out
While everyone was sleeping….
At different times God’s word can speak to us in different ways. I believe God’s truth is multilayered. So a passage can say two different things and they can both be right. My initial reaction to this is to focus on the evil of sleeping. Of laziness. And while there is a point there needs to be a balance in life and in our interpretation of the scriptures. The point of this parable is not on the wickedness of rest. The Bible says a little sleep a little slumber and poverty comes. Proverbs 24:33, 34 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man. But Psalm 127:2 says why do you get up early and stay up late toiling. Don’t you know God gives rest to those he loves. Sleep is not a sin! You can’t do it all. Everyone has to sleep. And the enemy waited until everyone was asleep. Till everyone… everyone here includes the man who sowed the good seed. Even He did not stand diligently over the field. What I believe Jesus is really saying to us is that we cannot prevent bad seed from being sown. There has to be a balance
The enemy did this.
First, we see what the master clearly points out that there is an enemy. Where do the tares come from? From the enemy 1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. The enemy sowed the weeds and went away. Isn’t that interesting. How often does the enemy sow seeds of discord and then stands back to watch people fight each other and laughs? We have a very real enemy, and his tactic usually involves putting out land mines and leaving to stand back and watch the destruction. Christian be warned to tread lightly and carefully through this field of landmines. Ephesians 5:15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, There is so much being said lately about lions and sheep. I am not sure it is the best illustration for Christians. If the devil is described as a roaring lion and Psalm 100:3 says we are Gods sheep which one are we supposed to identify with? Yes I know Jesus is known as the Lion of Judah, but can anyone tell me where Christians are described as Lions? How often does the Bible tell us the battle is the Lords*** He is our strong tower Our shield our salvation He is our vindication. We are called to have the humble attitude of Christ. Yes with balance God does tell us along with Joshua be strong and courageous. But I think too many Christians are fighting political and cultural battles instead of spiritual ones. We could win the election, and cure the Covid and win the culture war and destroy the media and souls will still be lost for eternity…..
When the wheat formed heads the weeds also appeared.
At a young stage the wheat and the tares look alike. It is not until they mature that you can tell the difference. In Mathew 7:16 Jesus said “By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?” You will know a tree by it’s fruit. Notice Jesus did not say you will know a tree by its bark. We have all heard the phrase a wolf in sheep’s clothing. 1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us. This breaks my heart. Not that people leave the church, not that people may go to another church, but the ones that leave the church and are not being ministered to. For I know their fate. But alas what are you known for? Are you known for your political affiliation? Your stance on the virus? Your heart for Jesus? I am not saying you can’t or shouldn’t have an opinion on all of these things. And perhaps you should speak up. But what is the most important thing to you. And are you Bering the fruit of the Spirit. Love Joy Peace, Patience. Do you have patience? Self control, do you have self control
The age old question
If God is good why is there so much evil in the world. Is this not what they are asking in an undertone. Why did you sow weeds? I thought you were supposed to be good. I thought you only sowed good then where did eil come from? As if we actually think evil is not right there within us. Sin is right there with me! Now this The enemy will sow the bad seed while we are sleeping. He is giving us a plan on how to handle it when it happens. Oh how I wish no bad seed had eve been sown in the world. Oh How I wish only good seed came forth. And that was God’s plan God only sowed good seed. Yet here we are. My Momma always used to say “No use crying over spilled milk.” So what you gonna do about it?
